Description
A monthly conversational forum, pulling back the curtain on the fashion industry and the unsustainable trends, impacts, and issues. The fashion industry is one of the top 5 most polluting industries in the world! Through our Sustainable Fashion Forum, we hope to pull back the curtain on fashion's unsustainable trends, converse with likeminded community, and innovate new ideas and solutions to these problems. Join us every third Wednesday at The Nest, a sustainable style collective, for our monthly Sustainable Fashion Forum. November's Topic: The Gen Z—Fast Fashion Paradox What is the Gen Z—Fast Fashion Paradox? Generation Z is deemed the most vocal on their societal focus and mission to support sustainable brands, yet Gen Z is rapidly emerging as fast fashion's largest customer base, consistently investing in the retailer's disposable trends. TLDR: Why is Gen Z fast fashion's largest consumer group, but also the same generation with the most outspoken message to be more sustainable and only support eco-friendly businesses? Contradicting right? In this forum, we will discuss all the influences on this paradoxical behavior including trends, social media, wage gaps, ageism, and more. Learn more about the topic before the forum at some of our suggested articles and podcasts: BPCM’s Carrie Ellen Phillips on why community is a crucial part of marketing sustainability on the Crash Course Fashion Podcast An Exploratory Study: The Fast Fashion Paradox If Gen Z killed fast fashion, why is fast fashion still booming?
