And what better way to celebrate his return than the Arizona premiere of his critically acclaimed album “Death Rides a Horse” a jazz salute to the spaghetti western soundtracks of Ennio Morricone? Featuring a nine piece ensemble of extraordinary musicians backed by full scale film projections, this performance will be the first opportunity for Arizonans to witness the critically acclaimed album live and in person on the plaza stage. This is a chance to catch a world class band leader performing a hit album for the first time this side of the Mississippi. We’ll see you there Tucson! Lineup includes- Arthur Vint (drums) Thoger Lund (bass) Angelo Versace (piano) Mamma Coal (acoustic guitar) Matt Mitchell (electric guitar) Marco Rosano (accordion) Mike Moynihan (bass clarinet) Brice Winston (tenor sax) Jason Carder (trumpet) Ben Nisbet (violin) Arthur Vint Drummer, composer and bandleader Arthur Vint moved to New York City from his hometown of Tucson, AZ in 2007, where he has built a busy and diverse career performing with bands such as Postmodern Jukebox, Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks, Zephaniah O'Hora, GaDaDu, Arthur Vint & Associates, and a good deal more. He has toured extensively throughout North America, South America and Europe and has performed at some of the world’s finest venues including the Olympia Theater in Paris, the Hammersmith Apollo in London and Vivo Rio in Rio de Janeiro and has appeared at Carnegie Hall, The Blue Note, Jazz @ Lincoln Center, The 55 Bar, Cornelia Street Cafe, Barbés, Joe’s Pub, Le Poison Rouge and many more clubs in New York City. Additionally Arthur has performed onscreen in episodes of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, Cinemax’s The Knick, and the blockbuster film John Wick, to which he also contributed to the soundtrack. Arthur appears on dozens of recordings that span the genres, including modern jazz, hot jazz, big band, salsa, country, pop and rock. Arthur’s first album as a leader, “Through The Badlands” on Ropeadope Records, combines many of these influences and was named as one of the “best jazz albums of 2016” by the Huffington Post.. Arthur Vint & Associates’ second album on Ropeadope is entitled “Death Rides A Horse” and is a salute to the spaghetti western soundtracks of Ennio Morricone. Arthur rearranged Morricone’s often-symphonic works for his 9-piece ensemble making them vehicles for improvisation. The band’s instrumentation includes chromatic harmonica, violin, tenor sax, bass clarinet, two guitars, piano, bass and drums. Arthur Vint & Associates can be caught at their monthly residency at Barbés in Brooklyn and recently recorded a new album of all original music. Arthur earned his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University of New Jersey where he studied with Bill Goodwin, Kevin Norton and Rich DeRosa and his master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with John Riley, Bobby Sanabria and Jim McNeely. A music educator in his own right, Arthur is on faculty at the University of Arizona where he teaches jazz drum set and recording studio production.
