Description

WAYLAND, MA — To mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month — which was observed in October — a Wayland committee is organizing a panel discussion about the issue. On Nov. 16, the Wayland Human Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (HRDEI) will bring together local experts to discuss how domestic violence and human rights intersect. "Although domestic violence is often seen as physical abuse, it includes various forms of coercive control designed to secure and expand a perpetrator's privilege by depriving the victim's basic human rights and liberties," HRDEI said in a description of the event. The panelists will include UMass-Boston professor Darren Kew, clinical psychologist Stephanie Howard, Brandeis University domestic violence researcher Mei-Ling Ellerman and HRDEI chair Dovie King. To find out more or register for the event, visit the HRDEI web page. Related: Wayland, Lincoln-Sudbury Game Will Spotlight Domestic Violence
