Description

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A new mattress recycling program will allow Swampscott residents to have them picked up curbside with the purchase of mattress recycling stickers. The program is being offered through a Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection grant in an effort to recycle the 75 percent of mattresses that are eligible to be recycled in participating cities and towns. Residents can be purchased here and they will be picked up on the second and fourth Saturday of each month curbside. Mattresses should be put out no sooner than 24 hours before of the pickup day and should not block sidewalks. The online portal is the only place to purchase recycling stickers. Those who have already purchased a bulk item sticker for a mattress can use it until Nov. 27. But after that only the recycling stickers will be honored for mattresses. "We're excited to add this program to the long list of other recycling/reuse programs in Swampscott, including textile recycling, composting, metal, and more," officials said. A full list of programs can be found here. Did you find this article useful? Invite a friend to subscribe to Patch.
