NORWOOD, MA - Chief William Brooks of the Norwood Police Department announced Monday morning that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Washington Street at approximately 1:10 a.m.
"At approximately 1:10 a.m. Monday, Norwood Police responded to the 400 block of Washington Street for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle," he said in a statement. "An initial on-scene investigation shows that the pedestrian, a 37-year-old Norwood man, was crossing the street when he was struck."
The man was transported to a Boston hospital with serious injuries.
The driver, a 25-year-old Brockton woman, remained at the scene following the crash and is cooperating with the investigation according to police. She did not report any injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the Norwood Police Department and is being conducted jointly with the office of the Norfolk District Attorney, which is standard procedure in serious pedestrian crashes, as well as the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
