Here are the top stories in Miami today: 1. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is hoping to easily secure a second term today, with his reelection campaign showing he can raise millions as he seeks to elevate his national profile. He has attracted tech-related private equity groups to Miami during his term including Japan's Softbank Group and Founders Fund. (NBC Miami) 2. Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and other officials invited In-N-Out to relocate their headquarters to Florida after multiple locations in California were temporarily closed for failing to check for vaccines. Popular social media account, Only in Dade, amplified the call for the west coast burger chain to come to The Sunshine State. (Miami New Times) 3. Jackson Memorial Hospital nurse Ramina Ashfaque has numerous accolades including Miss West Broward USA, Miss Florida, Miss World Florida. She won Miss Pakistan World in 2016. Ashfaque will be presented for Pakistan at Miss Grand International 2021 in Thailand this December. (WSVN) 4. Due to a worker shortage partially from the pandemic, Florida lawmakers will consider proposals to put nearly $100 million into nursing homes and boost pay of state correctional officers. Broward County school officials are receiving threats and the state has opened an investigation into the district following a school field trip to a Wilton Manors restaurant called Rosie's Bar & Grill associated with the LGBTQ+ community.
