STAMFORD, CT — Election Day takes place in Stamford on Nov. 2., and there are a number of key races on the ballot. Patch asked candidates for local office about their campaigns and the issues facing the city. Democrat Jeffrey Stella, 56, is running for Board of Representatives, District 9, in Stamford. Experience: Board of Representatives Family in government: no The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: The single most pressing issue facing our town is changing the mindset of those who believe we are still a small town. Stamford is the second-largest city in Connecticut, which means we have to start developing new ways to fund our budget. Today, we see new construction built throughout our city. This translates to an increase in our daily population through residential living, overcrowded schools, workforce, more vehicular traffic, and a surge in emergency incidents for our 1st responders to answer. I intend to continue advocating for the developers to pay their fair share of taxes and fees. The new mayor will be responsible for negotiating contracts for new projects. The new project agreements must ensure that the developers contribute to our roadways, schools, and funding for new teachers and new 1st responders. Additionally, a WPCA trust fund can be created by the same method, and so we wouldn't need to raise taxes when the time comes to upgrade our plant. I want my constituents to know that it has been an honor and a privilege to represent them for the last four years. As your Representative, I will always voice your concerns over the opinions of others, just like the stands I took against the state placing tolls in Stamford. I am committed to pick up were I left off in our in fight for affordable housing ownership and equality.
