A construction foreman at S.R. Freeman, Inc is responsible for a number of tasks that include but are not limited to, planning, organizing and coordinating projects. They are responsible for supervising workers, as well as performing construction related tasks. The foreman position requires someone that is self-motivated, punctual, has a minimum of 5yrs of high-quality residential finish experience, can motivate and lead others with minimal supervision. Often times, this position is the daily face that represents our company, the foreman will need to present himself well, show up on time, have a plan for the days tasks and must have great people skills which means having the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both employees and clients. A foreman must be able to read and understand Structural/ Architectural plans and details, must be able to take information from those plans and generate a work sequence, lumber and hardware lists, as well as identify workflow priorities and clearly explain these tasks to the crew. This person must also be able to identify a sufficient number of employees needed for tasks to be completed, along with being able to assess the employee’s skill level in order to properly assign them to specific tasks to ensure the overall success of the project. As a part of understanding plan reading and sequencing, the foreman must be able to identify structural and/or architectural conflicts prior to starting a task. With the ability to plan, organize and sequence you may be asked to put together and follow a work schedule in order to hit specific deadlines and production rates, as well as review a project budget to clearly understand the estimated rates and recognize when adjustments need to be made. Minimum job requirements 5 yrs. as a journeyman level finish carpenter. Knowledge of complex and detailed finish techniques. Ability to read and understand architectural and structural plans and details. Excellent time management skills Strong communication skills (reading, writing, speaking.) Ability to solve problems. Self motivated. Ability to motivate and lead others. Dependable vehicle. Open minded/ willing to learn new ways as well as share ideas. Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to accurately fill out company paperwork. Ability to understand basic job cost sheets. Skills that are not required but beneficial to have Basic computer skills (emails, scheduling, daily planning, etc...) Basic understanding of job estimating. Basic understanding of scheduling.
