ARLINGTON, MA — Arlington Police Department officers are participating in "No Shave November" for the third year in a row to benefit cancer research at Massachusetts General Hospital. This year, the department is also supporting retired Lt. Dan Kelly, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, according to a news release. Arlington PD employees may grow out their facial hair in November and are asked to donate or raise $100 to support cancer research at Mass General. "The fight against cancer is one that is very personal for all of us here at the department," Chief Julie Flaherty said in a news release. "We are proud to be supporting No Shave November and one of our retired officers as he battles this terrible disease. I invite residents who are able to do so to join us in supporting Lt. Kelly and Massachusetts General Hospital." The department set a $5,000 fundraising goal; community members may donate to their fundraiser here. Arlington PD said anyone who donates " will receive a selfie of an officer showcasing their No Shave November beard."
