STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man was shot outside of a Wawa in Stafford County on Sunday afternoon, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. The suspect in the shooting has turned himself in. The victim is expected to make a full recovery, authorities said. The suspect was identified as Dorsean Johnson, a 34-year-old man from Fredericksburg. Deputies responded to the Wawa, located at 9 South Gateway Drive, at 2:27 p.m. on Sunday. During their investigation, authorities determined that two men were involved in an argument in the Wawa's parking lot. "One subject brandished a firearm and fired numerous rounds into the victim's vehicle, striking him several times," Major Shawn Kimmitz of the sheriff's office said. "That victim attempted to flee in his vehicle, and was involved in a crash as he fled onto South Gateway Drive." On Monday, authorities said 11 total shots were fired in the incident. The firearm was recovered, the sheriff's office said. The victim was able to exit his vehicle and ran to a nearby Panera location, where he received medical attention. The victim was then taken to a nearby hospital to receive further treatment. Authorities said he is expected to recover. Initially, the suspect fled the scene in a white sedan, Kimmitz said on Sunday afternoon. However, the suspect later turned himself in. The suspect, who police identified as Dorsean Johnson on Monday, is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. He is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony. The intersection of South Gateway Drive and Warrenton Road was shut down for several hours on Sunday afternoon as detectives investigated the shooting and subsequent crash. Have a story idea?
