ASHBURN, VA — Ashburn voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 2, to cast ballots for statewide and local offices. Residents can cast their vote for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and delegate. The Ashburn area is represented by the 32nd district in the Virginia House of Delegates. That seat is up for grabs in the 2021 election. On Election Day, polls in Loudoun County and the rest of Virginia open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Voters who are in line by 7 p.m. will be permitted to cast their ballot. Ashburn residents can find their polling place through the Virginia Department of Election's polling place locator tool. To vote in person, an acceptable form of ID is required, but it is no longer required to be a photo ID. Examples of accepted ID include a Virginia driver's license, DMV-issued ID, U.S. passport, current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck and more. Those who are voting by mail must return the mail-in ballot by 5 p.m. on Nov. 2, Election Day, in person or have it postmarked by Nov. 2 and received by noon on Nov. 5. As an alternative to mail, ballots can be dropped off at a drop box at any early voting site during voting hours or at any polling place during voting hours on Nov. 2. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail was Oct. 22. Early voting ended on Oct. 30. What's on the Ballot? In the 32nd district, which encompasses most of the Ashburn area, incumbent Del. David Reid faces two challengers: Republican Scott Pio and independent Nicholas Allegro. Del. Reid's values include a desire to expand healthcare access, maintain current abortion laws, and increase affordable higher education. Pio has been vocal in protests against the Loudoun County school system, expressing particular concerns about critical race theory. Allegro, the independent candidate, has expressed a desire for stricter regulations on drug prices, an increased minimum wage, and more investment towards renewable energy resources. Ashburn voters will also be able to cast their ballots for governor, attorney general, and lieutenant governor. Here is a full list of candidates for statewide and local races: Governor Glenn A.
