COVENTRY, RI — As part of "No Shave November," the Coventry Police Department is raising money for an organization dedicated to helping veterans heal their "invisible wounds," such as post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression and more. This year, as part of the national event, the department is donating to Home Base. A Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program, the organization is dedicated to helping veterans and their families through world-class clinical care, wellness, education and research. All care is provided at no cost. As of Monday, the police department has raised $1,000 for Home Base but hopes to raise twice as much. "All of us have individually pledged to donate and/or fundraise $100 for this cause. Please consider donating to our department's page. This is a great way for our community to make an impact, together," the police department posted on its official fundraising page. To help the police department reach its goal, residents can donate at this link. No Shave November is a month-long journey during which participants forgo shaving and grooming in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness.
