Skokie Trustees Consider Raises For Village Manager, Attorneys

SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Village Board is due to give first consideration to an ordinance increasing the compensation of some of the village's top-paid employees, effective in May of this year. The village manager, corporation counsel, assistant corporation counsels and deputy clerk would all see raises of 1.5 percent to their base salaries, according to a draft of the ordinance. Village Manager John Lockerby and Corporation Counsel Michael Lorge would also get an corresponding increase in their deferred compensation packages. When including their annuities, the proposed cost of living adjustments would bring Lockerby's total compensation package to $248,675 and Lorge's to $249,825. Both men also receive the same health insurance and other benefits as full-time village staff, according to the draft ordinance. Three full-time lawyers in Lorge's office would see their salaries increased to $137,852, $122,815 and $80,700. An attorney currently working part-time in the office would receive less than $14,000, while a yet-to-be-hired position in the office would earn about $37,500. The deputy clerk's salary for the current fiscal year, which ends in April 2022, would be $77,000 under the ordinance.
