LA GRANGE PARK, IL — A La Grange Park Fire Department ladder truck was burglarized while it was parked outside an elementary school during a fire drill, police said. About 2 p.m. Wednesday, a resident walking a dog informed La Grange Park police of a possible burglary to the department's ladder truck, according to a police news release. It was parked outside of Forest Road School. The resident had witnessed two men leave a gray Porsche SUV and open the side compartments to the ladder truck, police said. Fire personnel later found that several pieces of equipment were removed from storage compartments on the ladder truck and three saws and a generator were taken, according to the release. Police said a neighboring jurisdiction had a similar incident occur earlier in the day with a matching description of the suspects and vehicle, police said. Shortly before 4 p.m., La Grange Park police were told by Chicago police that they had recovered the stolen property from the gray Porsche that was used in another attempted burglary of a construction vehicle, police said. The local police were told that Chicago police detained all the occupants of the Porsche. Anyone with information on the La Grange Park case is urged to call the police at 708-352-7711, ext. 207.
