Here are the top stories today in Jackson: Mississippi Public Health Institute will be able to train first-responders to save lives in the opioid epidemic by learning to administer naloxone, a drug that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. They were awarded a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to support the training. (Picayune Item) Key Elementary School recently held a reading fair for students. They read a book of their choice and then created a presentation about it, including dressing up as a character from the book. The goal was to give students the freedom to express themselves and build creativity. (WJTV)Hinds County is planning to use COVID relief funds to install a fitness structure at Belhaven Park, additional playground equipment at Parham Bridges Park, and a half-mile walking trail at Jamie Fowler Boyll Park. (Northside Sun) Waste management prices rise to $15 per month in the city of Jackson, and neighbors are pointing fingers at the city.
