PA Plane Crashes, Goes Missing Off Atlantic Coast

READING, PA — The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a small plane from Reading, Berks County that went missing after crashing into the ocean late Sunday night. The white and beige, Piper 28 aircraft went down around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday off the coast of Massachusetts, Coast Guard officials said. The location was near Cape Cod, about 3-and-a-half miles from Nauset Beach. The pilot was the only person on board. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane left from Reading Regional Airport and was headed to Chatham Municipal Airport. The plane's last transmitted signal was at 6:49 p.m., descending at 4,000 feet per minute. #Update @USCG assets continue to search off of #NausetBeach this morning.
