Description

Press release from the City Of Davis: October 19, 2021 2:48 pm The current phase of paving on Covell Blvd. has been completed with a final paving layer still to be applied. Due to the rain forecasted for this week, paving operations may be suspended on certain days. The contractor will work when possible this week and expects to complete the paving process next week if weather cooperates. The City will be giving updates on social media. When the final phase of paving begins in an effort to improve traffic control on Covell Blvd during paving, the contractor committed to having flaggers at impacted intersections, limiting the number of intersections that are closed at any one time, and making sure that all detours are implemented in a timely manner to provide clearer guidance to the public. Rolling lane closures continue as planned. The team will continue to observe traffic safety and flow and coordinate additional traffic control improvements as necessary. Please note that while paving is partially complete, there will uneven pavement and slower speeds are advised (25 mph). We understand that construction on a major thoroughfare impacts the public greatly, and we thank you for your patience as this project is completed. If you need to travel east/west in town, it is advised to use Alvarado Ave, Villanova Dr/14th St, 8th Street or Russell Blvd to avoid delays. Questions?
