BALDWIN, NY — A person was fatally struck by a train on Monday morning, causing rush-hour delays on the Babylon branch.
MTA Police are investigating the incident that took place at approximately 3:50 a.m. east of the Baldwin station, an LIRR spokesperson said.
Initially, service was suspended on the Babylon branch between Jamaica and Babylon. By 6:20 a.m., the LIRR was using a single track and operating at a reduced speed with several cancellations.
As of 9:12 a.m., normal service resumed with trains on-or-close to schedule, the LIRR said.
We are now operating on or close to schedule on the Babylon Branch. Earlier, there were delays following a suspension due to an earlier incident near Baldwin.— LIRR. Wear a Mask. (@LIRR) November 1, 2021
