Description

I have an extended worship concert coming up on Saturday Night, November 13th @ 7PM (sound check and light rehearsal at 4:30). There's a lot of songs but they're all the ones you've been playing forever in church (see list on the flyer). This is functionally an easy listening Worship Top 40 band. This is a very unusual project in that it's all about the congregation singing along with very little speaking and a minimal message given in the middle. It's for believers who love to worship through music. Now I know it's going to seem daunting because we're doing about 20 songs but they're all pretty straight ahead and mostly it's about the groove not complicated breaks or orchestrations. There are about 3 songs that are tightly arranged (Hosanna, Lead Me to the Cross, From The Inside Out) but the rest are like Blessed Be Your Name, Revelation Song etc. that are total no brainers (if you've played them before). I know it's not a lot but I can offer you $50 and all you need to show up with is your talent. You won't have to do any setup or teardown unless you want to help breaking down the kit which is appreciated. I need someone with good taste who can play our 13/16/22 kit quietly and with finesse. I put this kit including the cymbals together with Keary down at Revival Drum Shop to be super dark and mellow sounding and to also record really well. This is an exceptional jungle kit you'll be working with and I know how to tune them too. We are going for an easy listening sound. My philosophy is to deliver the vocals at just a little above where the congregation is singing so that they can blend with us. The instruments all follow. The band is very intuitive and we all tend to underplay. The bass player is exceptional also. This is not about generating excitement or a show but about waiting for the Holy Spirit to show and light it all on fire. This 2nd time out may be the one that explodes and you could be a part of that experience if it happens. So what happened to our regular guy? Well, he's having health issues and can't drive right now and he lives in Beaverton. Check out our flyers for the night.
