I attended an ivy league university in Ann Arbor Michigan in the late '60's and early 1970's. It was an eye opener for a boy raised on a farm, never having met anyone other than the white, mostly poor peers in my small, country school. There were no "closet" anything. Socialists and Communists openly advertised in the The Michigan Daily and held marches and rallies on the North Quad. At ANY event, they had booths and openly recruited. It was so open and accepted, they went unnoticed and were just ignored, as were the gay booths, women's lib booths....... They never got elected into campus politics or invited to join fraternities or even their parties. I never recall an event hosted by any of them that anyone actually attended other than their supporters. In Anthropology, one might learn that in the island countries, Voodoo actually works because the people so strongly believe in it. Their are entire curriculum demonstrating that our peer group form what we believe (not us) as we develop defense mechanisms to support our new beliefs (i.e. confirmation bias.) In short, you my friend need to get out. Get a hobby, help poor people, read some books, delve into the works of Shakespeare, Wagner, Dickens or Sartre. Take your mind off the impotent Socialists and Communists in America. In the 1950's Hoover and Joseph McCarthy were obsessed with them. Like a homophobic seeing gays everywhere, they ruined peoples lives because they were perhaps odd or eccentric. I have read lunacy on this board that "Democrats are Socialists." Well if true, they must be a feeble lot. They had an excellent opportunity to elect one president. Twice! Both efforts failed within the party itself! Why not focus on who your REAL enemies are? I have not once heard you rant against rich, industrialists who rape us by using a pandemic to create fake "shortages" knowing in our psyche, if you tell an American he can't have something, he will begin hoarding. Let the prices skyrocket!!!!
