Colin is not you average politician. He doesn't just talk about suicide prevention or addiction recovery, he rolls up his sleeves and works! Long before he was a D3 candidate he fought hard for suicide survivors. Colin was instrumental in moving the focus group for Colorado's 2021 Suicide Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention Act forward in his capacity as a boardmember with the Postvention Alliance. He worked with Western Slope youth to help create, draft, and promote this bill along with finding bipartisan legislative sponsors for the bill. It passed with near unanimous bipartisan support. The law broadens the state's priorities and focus on suicide and suicide attempts, and the after-effects of those actions on attempt survivors, family, friends, health-care providers, first and last responders, educators, and students in schools where a suicide or suicide attempt has occurred. Colin Wilhelm is for ALL people: He says - "As a recovering Alcoholic I have fought a very hard fight, I know what it takes to stand up and do the right thing even when faced with enormous odds against you. As a Congressman I won't be told by the party, corporations, lobbyists, or special interest groups what to do or how to vote. I will always listen to the people and vote the way the people of CD3 want, even if that means voting against my own beliefs because that is what THE JOB requires." "I believe in bipartisanship. I believe that the job is representing all people, not just those who vote for you. I have traveled Colorado's 3rd district, listening and using those ideas to find the best solutions for everyone.
