Even a blank round can cause harm if close enough. I taught my kids to never point a gun, real or play gun toward anyone. That is the first thing you learn when handling firearms and you sure as h ell don't pull the trigger when pointing a gun at someone knowing that it was loaded. He was well aware that there were at least six blank rounds in the gun yet he chose to point the gun at another person and fire. I have no idea why a live round was in the gun but when he picked up the gun, he became solely responsible for whatever happened while it was in his possession. Reckless endangerment manslaughter and ten years in prison should just about cover his stupidity.
