Need Help with Radio Car Repair for 1998 Plymouth

A dear little lady neighbor has a 1998 Plymouth and the radio "crackles" when it is turned on. Her trips to and from the supper market do not allow her to tune-in on anything. Perhaps it as simple as a loose connection or perhaps a new radio is needed. Was wondering if there is anyone with the expertise to determine the problem without incurring a large cost, might help. She is located on the east Littleton, west Centennial boarder near Arapahoe Rd. Can anyone help?
