Description

Learn more about Native American clothing and make your own mini moccasin at this Family Workshop! Moccasins may be the oldest form of footwear, dating as far back as 30,000 BC, yet they are still practical, comfortable, and fashionable. They have adapted, evolved and transitioned as times and needs change. They can be highly decorated or plain, for either indoor (slippers) or outdoor use, and are multi-functional. Our family workshops are held open-house style, so feel free to drop in at any point during the craft. This craft takes approximately 30 minutes to make. Parental supervision is required at all times. Founded in 1911, the Washington County Historical Society has played a significant role in preserving historic sites, artifacts and archival records for Washington County, Maryland. Located in downtown Hagerstown, the Miller House serves as the home of the historical society, the kinship Family Heritage Research Center, and the Miller House Museum. The museum gives visitors a taste of life in the 1850s and exhibits showcase important events in Washington County history.
