Re-Planted transplant here from NOLA. Drummer and musician.
Thinking about trying to get a true, classic-rock band going here. A few things though.
Charleston kind of had a decent music scene before COVID. I mean, nothing like NOLA, or other cities I have lived in, but some very cool, entertaining places. It looks like The Pour House still is thriving. What happened to The Music Farm? Windjammer was really nothing more than a place on the beach. Some good acts from time to time, but not worth the hike up 2 flights of stairs with serious gear. (Not trying to insult anyone, but when you have $50K in drums alone, you want a return on the risk).
I know a lot of musicians here left for FLA, and other areas, hell, even Costa Rica.
So just wondering what is happening with the scene here? Seems there are still some really cool singer / song / solo peeps out there playing small spots, but what about bigger venues that can handle real bands that play REAL Classic Rock ?
We are talking places that can handle bands that play The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Police, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Journey, The Who, Eric Clapton, Foo Fighters (They are now def classic rock), Def Leppard, Ozzy, Styx, Asia, and some more classic performers such as Marty Robbins, Elvis, Johnny Cash, shit, throw in Jimmy Buffet for that manner.
I have really only seen what I saw 10 years ago here, and hell, 20 years ago here.
Is there any venue that supports true classic rock bands, and if so, are there any musicians here interested in throwing together 30 songs in a month and making it happen?
No haters please. Lived in enough cities with enough haters and egos. Just asking honest and serious questions.
Cheers!
