First, today's weather: Cloudy, a little rain; cool. High: 63 Low: 59. Here are the top stories in Sacramento today: Soon motorists will notice a number of digital speed limit signs along Highway 99. The values of the advisory speed limits will vary depending on traffic volumes. Caltrans has decided to implement varied speed limits in order to address the congestion, ease traffic, and hopefully reduce the number of accidents on the highway. The varied speed limits are part of a pilot project that will last for six months. The area included in the project spans north from Elk Grove Boulevard to the Highway 50 interchange. Advisory speeds will be posted in ten separate locations along that route. (autoaccident.com) Sacramento has topped the list of the least affordable new home markets in the country. A dubious honor to be sure. The median new construction home price in the Sacramento region is $650,000. In order to afford the $39,000 down payment, Sacramentans need an income of about $128,000. But the median household income here is just over $76,000. (CBS Sacramento) Three men assaulted two Sac State students on campus early Sunday morning. Sac State Police say around 12:30 a.m. three men approached a group of students who were talking outside of Building F. After a brief altercation, one of the assailants struck one of the students in the face. When another student pulled out a phone to record the incident that student was attacked and his phone was stolen. All three suspects then ran off around Building F, police say. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Sacramento State Police Department at (916) 278-6000. (CBS Sacramento) A woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver in the area of Bandon Way and San Juan Road early Saturday morning. When officers arrived, they found a woman with major injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the vehicle that struck her fled the area before police arrived. No additional details were available.
