PITTSBURGH, PA — Steelers coach Mike Tomlin made it clear in no uncertain terms. He's not leaving the team to coach at the college level.
Tomlin drove a stake through the heart of increasing speculation that he might depart the Steelers and take the currently open USC job. Clearly irate over the rumors, he declared at his weekly news conference that "There is not a booster with a big enough blank check" to entice him to the collegiate level.
Some Steelers fans likely breathed a sigh of relief over Tomlin's strong statement that he was staying. Others, perhaps dissatisfied with the team's lack of playoff victories in recent years, likely were disappointed.
