Here are the top stories today in Mobile: Mobile's beloved annual "Mobtober Fest" was a success this weekend, despite COVID-19 concerns for unvaccinated children. Hundreds of parents brought their kids out to Medal of Honor park to enjoy the Halloween-themed festivities. Saturday's festival included several events, including a 5-K zombie run and a "howl"-o-ween treats for pets at the dog park. (WKRG News 5)Alabama's new redistricting plan is drawing criticism as Republican Spanish Fort comes into Democratic hands. Both Spanish Fort and Prichard will now share a representative in the Alabama State Senate, joined in the same Senate District 33 as downtown and midtown Mobile. The fight over the city could become a crucial issue during the Legislature's special session on redistricting, which began on Thursday and is likely to extend well into this week. (AL.com)An early Sunday morning shooting outside the Bank Nightlife Club on Azalea Road left a man seriously wounded and in the hospital this weekend. Mobile Police Department is currently investigating the incident.(FOX10 News) Part of Theodore Dawes Road was shut down for most of yesterday following a crash that claimed the life of 27-year-old Valerio Rodriquez Morales, who died when his car hit a utility pole between Helton Road and Gunn Road. (FOX10 News) Mobile Fire-Rescue responded to a house fire on Terry Lane on Sunday afternoon after smoke was seen coming from the attic. The family of the home was reported safe and had evacuated from the house prior to the arrival of fire- rescue.
