We need Independent Contractors on an as-needed (per diem) basis. You will be taking measurements and photos of single family homes. The reports are mostly just photos with captions. But there are measurements to take also. Preferred --- electricians, CAD drafters, architects,... or with similar skills and experience. Otherwise --- NO experience is needed and some training is available for highly motivated individuals who want to learn. You will be taking field measurements, and creating sketches of the roofs. AutoCAD is preferred, but hand sketches are acceptable if easily legible. The hand sketches can be written over a photograph of the roof(s), scanned, and emailed back to us with your Report. You will also taking photographs and measurements of the existing electrical systems. Mostly just taking pictures and adding captions. But you also need to measure the locations and available space around the breaker panels. Then emailing all the measurements and photos to our office - including the measurements of the existing structures/framing and the locations of the electrical equipment. Occasionally you will be given drawings or blueprints -- you will need to be able to read and interpret drawings. If there is a crawl space or attic under the roof you will want to go into those areas to document the framing (size, spacing, condition, etc.). Most electrical systems are in the basement. You will need to have a complement of ladders, harnesses, and personal protection equipment on hand. Only hand measuring tools and a laser are used. That should include a laser transit (but you can use tape measures if you are good at climbing roofs). Some destructive testing may be required - like removing drywall, roofing tiles, drilling inspection holes, etc. -- so you can see the existing framing (roof rafters, trusses, etc.) Must have a high definition camera - cell phone cameras are not acceptable. All photos are emailed, not sent via cell phone. You will also need a high-resolution camera drone (we recommend a DJI Mavic Air 2 or better). Must be adequately insured - be able to produce a COI when requested Able to ACCURATELY document dimensions on a photograph of the roofs -- draw the dimensions on the roof pictures EXACTLY as measured Must have reliable transportation with ladder racks Able to travel to Sites anywhere in New York State, including, occasionally, NYC 1-2 week turnaround required on all sites Must have a reliable cell phone and always be available for taking calls. After your initial few sites, you should be able to finish each site visit in 40-60 minutes each + driving time. Plus time in your office to complete the Report (approx. 1 hour). Most of the sites will be between Jamestown and Niagara Falls but primarily in Buffalo. Some weeks you will have 10-12 sites, some weeks nothing. You are filling in when the demand exceeds our current capabilities - which happens often. Please - no phone calls or texts, email only.
