Looking to start/join Rock Band

I have been playing the guitar for 11 years now. I can play rhythm and some lead guitar as well. I've been looking to start a rock band but I've had no luck finding any other like minded musicians. I would like to gig out, write original material/record, etc. I'm open to joining an existing band as well.
