Description

Volunteers will remove overgrown vegetation from the intersection of the Mount Vernon Trail and Four Mile Run Trail to prevent crashes. Meet on the trail at the intersection of the Mount Vernon Trail and Four Mile Run Trail. The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be removing vegetation near the trail to maintain good sight lines to see trail users coming from the opposite direction. Meet on the trail at the intersection of Four Mile Run Trail and the Mount Vernon Trail. Picture below shows directions from the nearest parking lot. Volunteers may perform some of the following work: Using pruners and loppers to cut vegetationUsing shovels to remove overgrown vegetation from the trail edgeSweeping or using a leaf blowerHauling away vegetation and fallen tree branchesPicking up trashWhat to Bring: WaterSunscreenBug sprayGloves (We'll have some to borrow)Pruners or loppers (We'll have some to borrow)Long sleeves and long pantsWhere to Meet: The work area is on the Mount Vernon Trail just south of the Memorial Bridge underpass. See the picture below.
