Need advice after tragedy w my dachshund

Description

I'm a wee bit strung out and at my wits end, sorry, but one of my dogs literally got hit/killed yesterday... He was a gorgeous white n brown spotted piebald dachshund, much beloved and now gone too soon. He wasn't even 2 years old (we have a much older fixed 12 y/o dach so yeah this was very shocking we were expecting this boy to be around much longer) but unfortunately recent rainstorms made the gate on the property malfunction, it popped open and he got out and was hit by a car. We had just gotten him a pretty little girlfriend to be his breeding mate not too long ago, a black and tan smooth. She's a gorgeous, loving and spunky girl, she only just had her first heat, and since it's advised to wait until the second heat to breed them, that's what we were planning to do. So we were pretty sure we kept her and Dude away from each other during her first heat, but now if only in light of what happened I kinda wish were weren't too careful after all, if only to hope that a part of him might still be alive... It would be a miracle so it's probably pretty unlikely. The whole reason we went thru the trouble of locating a female to go with our male was because we wanted to avoid the whole stud thing, now we're just tired and idk just hoping that talking to other dachshund owners at least might help. So idk what are the best websites for this? I can't be sure what if any of these popping up are trustworthy or might work, and its all just really depressing right now, so if anyone knows which ones really worked for you and aren't just a big scam like a lot of them seem to be to me, I'd appreciate some honest recommendations, no sales pitches please. If you maybe know of or have any studs at least semi nearby me I'd much appreciate knowing about that too... I'm super sad about losing my special spotted boy, so if anyone else has a special boy or knows someone that does or knows where to find some that won't be halfway across the country, I'd really appreciate the help, or at least a sympathetic ear, please and thanks... And btw we had both mum and dad tested they were both "A"/Not Affected by Merle gene...
