PGMF Board of Directors About Us The Patrick Grange Memorial Foundation was founded in January, 2013 in honor of Patrick Grange. Pat was a beloved son, brother and friend who enjoyed helping others and had a passion for the sport of soccer. After an incredibly successful youth soccer career which included numerous club state championships, a trip to the high school State Finals, being a part of the Olympic Development Program and being named the Tribune High School Player of the Year in New Mexico, Patrick accepted a scholarship to play NCAA Division I soccer at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Following his sophomore year Patrick transferred to the University of New Mexico where he helped lead the Lobos into the Sweet 16 in 2004. After his standout college career Patrick played with the Albuquerque Assylum semi-pro team and spent three months pursuing pro soccer in England. Following his playing days Patrick continued his involvement in the game as a coach at the high school, club and ODP levels. In 2011 Patrick was inducted in the Albuquerque High School Hall of Fame, being the first soccer player to do so. In November, 2010, two weeks after turning 28, Patrick was diagnosed with ALS. He was the youngest New Mexico ALS patient, with the average age being 58. Following his diagnosis generating ALS awareness and research became Pat’s passion. In spite of his shy demeanor, he was instrumental in making a difference, including the declaration of February 3rd as an annual ALS Day in New Mexico. Pat lost his fight with ALS on April 10, 2012. In early 2011 Ryan Lindgren, Jason Lindgren and Joe Morelli organized the Patrick Grange ALS Golf Fundraiser in order to help offset some of Patrick’s medical expenses as well as to assist in improving his quality of life. Following Patrick’s passing and inspired by his love for soccer and his passion for making a difference in the ALS community Ryan, Jay, Joe and Pat’s former teammates Kevin Brady and John Collins established The Patrick Grange Memorial Foundation in January of 2013.
