Description
Join us for community storytelling (surrounded by fabulous artwork) on the concept of home. Wine, tea, and cheese will be served! What does “home” mean to you? More than 1,000 people from all over the world have added their voice in conversation about this universal question as part of the Out of Eden Walk-Chicago HomeStories Project: www.homestoryproject.org. Originating from the many communities, voices, and stories of Chicago and beyond, HomeStories is an ongoing, citizen-fueled collaborative storytelling map that anyone can contribute to, anytime, from anywhere in the world. Inspired by National Geographic Fellow Paul Salopek’s global journey following the steps of our earliest ancestors, Out of Eden Walk-Chicago builds understanding and dialogue through grassroots storytelling, crowdsourced cartography, and neighborhood walks. By practicing slow journalism, we increase empathy and understanding as we engage in thoughtful dialogue about race, migration, gentrification, cultural preservation, and other important subjects that shape our many definitions of home. WHEN: Friday, November 5, 2021 | Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm WHERE: August House Studio 2113 W Roscoe St, Chicago, IL 60618 WHAT: Join us for "HomeStories Gallery Cafe"—a fun, informal place to come together in conversation and share our stories of home from across the globe.
