Barn manager position
This position includes managing the day-to-day responsibilities of the barn along with feeding and cleaning stalls. We have an equine therapy program with 12 horses and several clients. Specifically, the job includes cleaning stalls, filling with shavings, making and feeding grain buckets, making and weighing hay bags and feeding, watering and cleaning water buckets, blanketing and unblanketing horses. The position included horse handling for some of the therapy sessions. The barn manager oversees the ordering of the hay and grain and occasionally going to pick up the grain in between the hay delivery, helping with the daily horse turn outs, observation of the horses and any daily care for wounds, ordering the stall shavings, overseeing the volunteers during the scheduled shifts, there is minimal barn and stall maintenance involved along with some landscaping duties. Must be able to work indepedently, follow directives, follow safety standards, must be able to lift 50 pounds, and be physically fit to empty manure buckets.
This is a 20-30 hour a week position with early morning feeding, evening feeding Saturday and Sunday feeding 3 times a day. Experience with horse care preferred. References required, must be able to pass a bavkground check, legal to work in the USA.
