Whats's all the buzz about? WHATS ALL THE BUZZ ABOUT?This one day course will cover the construction of two different types of beehives. One of them is the common Langstroth hive that is used worldwide. It’s the common box hive. The second is the Kenyan top bar hive. We will be discussing a few other types of hive systems aswell. Students will have the opportunity to to build their own hive using a variety of wood working tools. Building bee hives are a great way to learn basic carpentry skills. Students have the option of taking home their hive or taking the course for experience only. Materials fee will be required in advance. This course will have three different sections but you have the choice of purchasing just a single day. Mask and social distancing are strictly enforced. A COVID waiver must be signed in order to attend the class. Acceptance into the class is on a first paid/first-served basis. Once we are sold out, we can't guarantee a place in the class. Walk-up purchases the day of class will incur an additional $5 charge, so make sure you purchase by 11:30 PM the night before class! Space or class materials are not guaranteed for you. Wild Willow Farm & Education Center is a project of the Resource Conservation District of San Diego County. We operate a 5-acre educational farm in the Tijuana River Valley, 15 minutes south of downtown San Diego. We train the next generation of farmers and gardeners in cutting-edge regenerative growing techniques, practices which emphasize the importance of building healthy, fertile, living soil as a fundamental component of growing healthy food and healthy communities.
