Description

Indiscernibles in Arizona Anthology book release with concert by Arizona's King of the Blues and Scotty Spenner. “The impact of The Great Migration in Arizona has had little acknowledgement; with African American residents locked into an “indiscernible” status; neither seen as migrants or refugees. Systemic racism is frequently rationalized by the dismissive tone that emphasizes the small demographic percentage of Blacks that live (or stay) in the state, as compared to whites and Hispanics, which further serves to relegate Blacks to the fringes. This Indiscernible-fringe existence is strongly experienced in Arizona in all areas of economic, social, civic and educational engagements and is the focus of the ongoing, multidisciplinary “GREAT MIGRATION – INDISCERNIBLES IN ARIZONA” . Clottee Hammons/The Great Migration-Indiscernibles in Arizona Manuscript A facet of The Great Migration-Indiscernibles in Arizona is the anthology, Indiscernibles in Arizona/“On the hope and reality of being Black in Arizona”. Heritage Square Foundation, Virginia G. Piper School of Creative Writing and Emancipation Arts LLC are excited to release this collection at a gathering of the writers and community.
