Medfield Boy Scout Troop 89 Kicks Off Scouting For Food Drive During Annual Webelos Weekend Medfield Boy Scout Troop 89 is proud to participate in the BSA Mayflower Council's Annual Scouting For Food Event, November 6th-13th. They will be kicking off the food drive to benefit the Medfield Food Cupboard during their annual Webelos Weekend at Rocky Woods in Medfield.
"Over 10,000+ other Scouts throughout the Mayflower Council participate in the Scouting for Food drive" said Troop 89 Scoutmaster Hatch ``Participating in these events makes a big difference in not only the fight against hunger but it helps scouts see the words the scout oath, in which they promise to help other people at all times, in action. Medfield has a strong scouting tradition so keep a lookout for scouts in your neighborhood collecting food from November 6th through 13th".
During Webelos Weekend, Troop 89 hosts active Webelos 1 and Webelos 2 from Medfield Cub Scout Packs 113 and 200. Any current 5th or 6th grader who is interested in learning more about the BSA Scout Program and what makes Troop 89 unique is welcome to join. Webelos Weekend starts Saturday, November 6th at 10am on the Rocky Woods Parade grounds. Scouts and their families are encouraged to join for as much as their busy schedules will allow. The Troop 89 scouts will be teaching basic scouting skills such as cooking, camping, wilderness survival, and first aid while also leading playing games.. The day will end around 5pm. Webelos 2 (and their guardian) are then invited to spend the night with the troop. We will be asking all participants to bring a donation for the Medfield Food Cupboard. Suggested donation ideas will be communicated to participants.
To RSVP please contact Scoutmaster Jim Hatch at [email protected].
