STRATFORD, CT — Stratford residents will head to the polls on Nov. 2 to cast votes for the municipal election. The position of mayor, along with seats on the Town Council, Board of Education, Planning and Zoning and more, are up for grabs. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information. You can request an absentee ballot here, or you can visit your town clerk's office. All voters are eligible to check the top box that lists "COVID-19" as a reason for requesting an absentee ballot. The race for mayor features Republican incumbent Laura R. Hoydick and Democratic challenger Immacula Cann. Return to Patch for results as they come in. Town Council The Town Council district races are as follows: 1st District) Will Farmer, Democrat, and Chris Pia, Republican; 2nd District) Kaitlyn Shake, Democrat, and Ronald "Ron" Tichy, Republican ; 3rd District) Lesette Franceshi, Democrat, and Victor Ayala Jr., Republican; 4th District) Kimberly Rice, Democrat, and Edward "Ed" Scinto, Republican; 5th District) Greg Cann, Democrat, and Kerry Whitham, Republican; 6th District) Jen Budai, Democrat, and Ken Poisson, Republican; 7th District) Tim Bristol, Democrat, and Jean-Marie Sutton, Republican; 8th District) Dianne Nolan, Democrat, and Jim Connor, Republican; 9th District) Linda Chaffin, Democrat, and William "Bill" O'Brien, Republican; 10th District) Kathleen Callahan, Democrat, and Laura J. Dancho, Republican. Other races For the Board of Education, residents will vote for four candidates. The Democratic candidates are: Matthew L. Schlager, Christopher J. Cormier, and Lisa Carroll-Fabian. The Republican candidates are: Michael F.Henrick, Kristen Bedell, Terri Sheehy and Sean Kennedy. For the Planning Commission, to fill a vacancy for two years, in the 1st and 2nd District, Joseph Gerics is the Democratic candidate and Bryan O'Connor is the Republican. For the Planning Commission in the 5th and 6th District, the candidates are Democrat Barbara Heimlich and Republican Alec F. Voccola. In the 7th and 8th Districts, the candidates are Democrat Christina Kazanas and Republican Sarah Graham. In the 9th and 10th Districts, the candidates are Democrat Jason M. Thompson and Republican Paul T. Aurelia. For the Zoning Commission, the candidates in the 5th and 6th Districts are Democrat Harold D. Watson and Republican Prez Palmer. In the 7th and 8th Districts, the candidates are Democrat Shaun Pasquale and Republican Debra A. Lamberti. In the 9th and 10th Districts, the candidates are Democrat Karen Tracy and Republican Len Petruccelli. For Zoning Board of Appeals, in the 1st and 2nd Districts, the candidates are Democrat Ellen Fraint and Republican Robert "Bob" Baird. In the 3rd and 4th Districts, the candidates are Democrat Rene Marie Gibson and Republican Edward "Ed" Scinto.
