PALO ALTO, CA — The grand opening of the Highway 101 Bike Bridge in Palo Alto connecting West Bayshore Road and East Meadow Drive is scheduled for Nov. 20, the city announced on Thursday. The bridge, over a decade in the making, will connect technology and research offices near Highway 101 with outdoor amenities like the Baylands Nature Preserve and the Bay Trail, according to the city. The bridge replaces the Benjamin Lefkowitz Underpass that was only available half the year due to flooding, the city said. Funding for the project came from local, state and federal sources, along with a $4 million grant from Santa Clara County . The grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a community celebration at 10 a.m. on Nov. 20. More details about the event will be coming soon, the city said.
