Rueben is a 4 month old Male Black Lab. I believe English lab. Got him not very long ago, bought him for service work, but he is showing signs of not working for that unfortunately which is upsetting, so we are not the right fit ! He does great with medium /large dogs, he doesnt understand he is much bigger than 10lb dogs and accidentally hits them with his paws and hurts them. He is an attention hog, loves all people and dogs! He has already been to one training class with several dogs and many people and he did great! We have been teaching him basic obedience for the start of service tasks.. We only use a lure no commands yet, but he lured into heel very well, look at me he is knowing that command, he knows his name Rueben.. he knows sit, we are working on recall.. and loose leash walking.. he knows quiet for when he is whiny sometimes we tell him quiet.We also taught him off for when he jumps, he knows not to jump anymore! He would be a very good dog for an emotional suppose dog, he just tries to please you.. he is 1/2 house trained, if not watching him and hes been in house for over and hr he will start whining or looking for spot to potty.. he is kennel trained, not fixed, needs rabies shot. He is super good in the car(he rides in crate until he learns to stay calm in car). Barely barks, he does love adventurous walks and sniffing! He isnt very food/treat motivated unless you have chicken/turkey/hotdog etc! He is also great with kids of all ages, he is bigger so he sometimes tries to jump on them but weve been working on that since he has seen kids last !! He is currently eating 3cups a day split in half at 8 am and 5 pm. we usually let him out at midnight and then out of kennel again at 5:30 then 8 am ! He is a very good dog, but me and my bf dont seem fit a big dog, he wasnt ideal for the service tasks we thought he would be, we also have 4 small dogs and dont want them getting hurt either!
