There is no mystery as to why if a little common sense is used. the three people most responsible are Mayor Wheeler, city attorney Schmit, and commissioner Hardesty, under their so called management the rioters were allowed to destroy downtown and they undercut the police dept. So with the gang force and gun crime unit disbanded plus defund the PPD what would any logical person expect. The gangs have a free for all attitude because to few police plus Hardesty thinks putting barriers in the street will stop the shootings instead of serious jail time. So the city's idea to make the city safer is for me to lock up my firearm so I can't access it in a emergency defies all logic. One time this was a nice city but no more.
