Male: Mixed Breed (Large); 7 years, 2 months Brazos is a big boy full of joy! Seriously, he's the happiest pup who is always smiling from ear to ear! If you love big, goofy, animated dogs, he is the boy for you! This very handsome boy has the sweetest eyes and a big soft head, earning the nickname "velvet hippo." His two favorite things are playing with toys and being with his people. He wants to be near his humans all the time, is curious about anything you do, wants to check it out, and stick his nose in it! But he's not an attention hog, he's mostly content just to be near you. Brazos has a back leg that was fractured and healed incorrectly. He doesn't let it get him down. He has a limp, but loves short walks. He's still very playful in short bursts! He does well with new humans, is very respectful and keeps all four paws on the ground. He is very quiet in the house. He'd rather be chewing a toy than chatting! He LOVES to chew toys, balls and bones and prefers that to be a solo activity for himself. He is very strong and will need heavy duty toys, but worth it because it makes him so happy! Super smart, he knows which are his toys, and chews only those, not your stuff. He is motivated by food and is receptive to training. He has learned sit, down and stay. He seems to have done well with children 12 and older. He does great free-roaming when left home alone since being confined to a crate stresses him out. Overall, he is the sweetest goofy boy and will make a great companion. He is heartworm positive, but all that means is that he will need a few weeks rest while he gets treated at APA!'s expense.
