Basic Function: Under immediate supervision, performs custodial duties in an assigned area to assure a clean, safe, building environment with a high appearance level; and does related work as required. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain regular attendance. Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately, as well as exhibit patience and understanding when engaging with internal and external customers. Clean entire restrooms and keeping the facilities at a high appearance level including, toilets, sinks, mirrors, windows, floors, trash containers, walls, and replenishing restroom supplies and etc. Clean and maintain the museum at a high appearance level, including galleries, lobbies and etc. Vacuums and maintain offices, lounges and other departments as assigned. Removes snow from museum entrances, emergency sidewalks and exits. Performs special projects for exhibitions; school groups and special events including floor care and set ups. Assigned to ongoing work request(s) under supervision and must complete within a timely manner. General duties include; standing, walking, bending and reaching when performing various assignments as well as operating all related equipment. Complete written and verbal instructions according to department standards. Is frequently required to lift up to 25 pounds when restocking supplies and 55 pounds when moving furniture, heavy equipment and boxes. Comply with museum green cleaning standards and procedures. Comply and consistently to meet OSHA requirements. Custodial Expectations: Maintain restrooms at a high appearance level. Maintain Galleries and Lobbies at a high appearance level. Maintain good customer service skills to meet customer satisfaction. Perform assigned tasks in the amount of time appropriate to the task at hand. Follow safety measures accordingly. Follow Security protocol and regulations accordingly. Identify and/or take action by reporting potential safety problems immediately. Project a positive image of the AIC to the public and staff. Maintain equipment and observe and report misuses or needed repairs to museum property immediately. Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary for operating cleaning equipment, both manual and mechanized, and for cleaning and sanitizing any areas of the building as assigned. Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary for moving equipment and setting up and breaking down for programs and events. Perform when needed placement of temporary and portable screens, stanchions and signage for museum gallery closures. Perform snow removal and salting on an occasional basis as needed. Perform additional or related duties as assigned.
