Description

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A volunteer fire chief with the Brooke Volunteer Fire Department was arrested and charged with forcible sodomy on Friday morning, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office announced. Authorities identified the volunteer as Gerald Moore. The sheriff's office said the assaults occurred in 2016, when the victim was a juvenile. However, the victim was not involved with any fire department. "This morning, detectives with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office executed search warrants at a Stafford home and at Brooke Volunteer Fire Department, 222 Andrew Chapel Road," the sheriff's office said in an update. "The search warrants are part of an ongoing investigation of forcible sodomy. Potential evidence was seized at both locations." Moore was charged with three counts of forcible sodomy, a felony sexual offense. Authorities said the charges stemmed from events in 2016, when Moore was a volunteer with the Hartwood Volunteer Fire Department. Moore is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. He has been placed on administrative leave by the Stafford County Fire & Rescue Department, pending the results of the investigation.
