Description

Together, we can make sure that all members of our community are warm and safe this winter... As we sell homes during the fall season, our thoughts turn to those who don’t have homes. Sacramento gets very cold this time of year and it is no time to be stuck outside. Yet as we’ve seen, homeless encampments continue to expand across our neighborhood’s major throughways and under freeway overpasses… One amazing resource that has been operating in downtown Sacramento for nearly 40 years is Loaves and Fishes. For those of you who are unfamiliar, this is an “oasis of services”- a city within a city, if you will. Spanning over a 4.5 Acre campus, Loaves and Fishes provides numerous barrier-free resources to help folks get back on their feet. This includes a daily kitchen, clean restrooms, hot showers, laundry services, the Mustard Seed School for children, a women and families shelter, mental health services, a legal clinic, veterinary services, job placement assistance, and much MUCH more! Loaves and Fishes receives no money from the government and is run 100% by the effort of volunteers and community donations. Your generous donation will help stock them up for the winter. Here are the items that we are looking for: New or gently used blankets & linens Outdoor gear: sleeping bags, pillows, tents Socks, sweaters and cold-weather clothing Sturdy shoes Personal toiletries Lady’s hygiene products Our drop-off station will be assessable all day - Swing by, say hi, make a donation, and enter our raffle for a chance to win a $100 Starbucks gift card! (Gotta love those pumpkin spice drinks) ...Thank you kindly for your consideration and we look forward to seeing you!
