DENVER, CO — The U.S. Food & Drug Administration and Cedar's Mediterranean Foods issued a recall for hummus sold in Colorado and 22 other states. The Haverhill-based company said some shipments of its "Organic Mediterranean Hommus" may include pine nuts which were not listed on the product's packaging. In addition to Colorado, the hummus included in the Cedar's recall was sold in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, and Wisconsin. The recalled hummus is labeled with "UPC Code: 044115403028," as well as a sell-by date of "DEC 12, 2021 (32I21)." Both the batch code and sell-by date information can be found printed on the lid of the container. The Food & Drug Administration also issued a warning that people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts "run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products." Consumers who want more information on the recall, or want to request a replacement, should email [email protected] and mention "Organic Mediterranean Hommus" in their message.
