Here are the top stories in Franklin today: Middle Tennessee lost a piece Halloween tradition when Earl Tywater of Franklin passed away in 2000. The lifelong Williamson County resident ran his beloved Earl's Fruit Stand for almost five decades. He opened the shop in 1957 with his brother Leon across from where Americana Taphouse stands today. He and his family sold fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers at Earl's, but became most known for "Pumpkinland," the family's free fall festival of sorts, and its display of both humongous and creatively styled pumpkins. (Tennessean)Cinco de Mayo is now open in Franklin at 1010 Murfreesboro Road, #178 next to Sprouts. Opening to the public on October 16, hours of operation are Sunday – Thursday, 11 am – 10 pm, Friday 11 am – 11 pm, and Saturday 11 am – 10:30 pm. Cinco de Mayo has been open in the area for over 20 years opening its first location in 2000.
