Press release from Shreve Memorial Library: October 29, 2021 Shreve Memorial Library's Annual Food for Thought Amnesty Days food drive returns to library branches November 1. The annual event encourages library patrons to trade in non-perishable food items for library fine forgiveness. Amnesty Days will take place November 1 through November 19, and all items collected will be donated to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. Shreve Memorial Library patrons with outstanding overdue fines received prior to March 2020 and those with fees for lost or damaged items can drop off non-perishable food items to any of Shreve Memorial Library's 21 branches. For each item donated, one (1) fine or fees up to $5 will be forgiven. Multiple items can be donated to cover fines or fees of more than $5. Each item will be worth $5 toward the total amount of the fines due. Patrons are asked to donate any of the following non-perishable food items, identified as the most needed items by the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. No glass containers please. Canned meat (tuna fish, salmon, chicken) Canned vegetables Canned fruit Peanut butter Any boxed cereal, oatmeal or grits Dried beans Rice Flour Sugar Pasta Donations will be accepted at all Shreve Memorial Library branches during normal business hours.
