PALM DESERT, CA — A local resource that provides free support and services for Coachella Valley residents living with cognitive impairment, their families and care partners is celebrating its recent expansion. Alzheimers Coachella Valley, which offers Alzheimer's and dementia programs, activities and family support, will host an open house at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5. The event dubbed "Here We Grow Again" will celebrate the recent renovation and expansion of the organization's facility located in the Berger Foundation building, 42600 Cook Street, Suite 134, in Palm Desert. Supported by local businesses, education partners, funders, foundations, and donors, Alzheimers Coachella Valley has added various new programs to meet the needs of the growing population with cognitive impairment, according to the organization. The Nov. 5 event will feature refreshments, a deejay, and a special presentation by HALŌ Diagnostics neuroradiologist Dr. Christopher Hancock, who conducted some of the clinical research on the Alzheimer's drug, Aduhelm. Founded in January 2018, Alzheimers Coachella Valley is a 501c3 non-profit organization and is staffed by trained and professional volunteers, many of whom have more than 20 years of Alzheimer's/dementia care experience, according to the organization. One hundred percent of Alzheimers Coachella Valley's funding remains in the Coachella Valley providing local support for residents, according to the organization.
